I love shooting weddings--especially when it's my friends' weddings. There's nothing more special than being part of an intimate moment with the bride and groom behind the lens. When my friends Joseph and Chaela asked me to shoot their wedding, I felt honored to be their wedding photographer at the Stillwell House & Garden in downtown Tucson.
As it got close to the wedding day, I was informed that there would be some big events taking place downtown, such as Tucson's second Saturday, car shows and rally protests. To be honest with you, I was a bit nervous to shoot a wedding in the middle of all of that. Then I realized that God is in control and if I submit everything to Him as well as ask for His protection, everything would be fine. I normally always pray before shooting a wedding or any photo session for that matter. And I'm glad I did! This wedding was one of my favorite weddings I've shot--I know I say that about every wedding as each one is unique in its own way.
My favorite part of the wedding was getting to play with smoke bombs and sparkers! Because there was a Black Lives Matter rally happening at the park right behind the wedding venue, there was a lot of security. I asked one of the security guards if he could hold traffic back for me in order for me to capture an urban street photo of the bride and groom. The guards were so nice and they even helped me set up the smoke bombs!
Thank you, Joseph and Chaela, for being such a pleasure to photograph. Here are a few shots I added to the days collection.
